Aba is a city in the southeast of Nigeria and the commercial center of Abia State. Upon the creation of Abia state in 1991, Aba was divided into two local government areas namely; Aba South and Aba North. Aba south is the main city centre and the heartbeat of Abia State, south-east Nigeria. It is located on the Aba River.
The people of Aba has always been known for their entrepreneurial industry which has been reflected through the number of industries and also hosting one of the largest markets, the Ariaria market, in Nigeria.
Although there is a high lack of government presence in the city, it has not deterred its inhabitants from industrialising the state. Aba has one of the largest cluster of shoe manufacturers in Nigeria. It also has a very large metal fabrication yard where different metals are being fabricated and sold to the populace.
